Zendaya is so proud of the way her husband, Tom Holland, has handled becoming Spider-Manāon and off the screen.
The actress, who has played Spideyās love interest MJ in the Marvel franchise since 2017, spoke to Rotten Tomatoes about Hollandās passion for the character and how he emulates Spider-Manās aura in āreal life.ā
āMy favorite thing about Tomās Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man,ā Zendaya said as Holland sat next to her in the interview. āSo many people connect to this character, to Peter Parkerās Spider-Man, and especially young people, especially children, and I think that heās just handled that weight with such grace.ā
Zendaya also noted that Holland āreally loves and cares so much about the character and what the character means to other people.ā
She added that the role, as with many other superhero characters, comes with the responsibility of knowing that āwhen you are in front of these kids, you are Spider-Man.ā
āYou are this person to them,ā Zendaya continued, turning to Holland directly. āI just love seeing what and how you carry Spider-Man through your life in real life.ā

Zendaya added that the pair have gained āwisdomā over the years after signing on to play these characters when they were āliteral infant[s].ā
The pair were both 19 years old when they took on their roles in the MCU. Holland is now 30, and Zendaya turns 30 on Sept. 1.
āAlso, for me at least, from the inside but also from the outside in some kind of way, itās been nice to be able to see [Tom] kind of really take even more ownership of the films and the character,ā she explained, looking at Holland, āand really put so much of yourself into it.ā
Holland chimed in to say that, when he was a kid playing Spider-Man, he was just āgassedā about the opportunity. Now, he feels the weight of it all as well as the joy.
