‘Worst-Kept Secret,’ ‘We Desperately Need Him’ — NFL Fans React as Chiefs Reach Out to Tyreek Hill’s Agent
The Kansas City Chiefs may be looking to bring back one of the most explosive players in franchise history after a pair of receiver injuries changed the equation.
Kansas City is reportedly “very interested” in free-agent wideout Tyreek Hill, who could potentially return to the team he starred for from 2016 through 2021. Hill is still working his way back from the knee injury he suffered last season, but the Chiefs appear willing to explore the possibility of a reunion. The timing is hardly a coincidence.
Tyquan Thornton dislocated his ankle while Rashee Rice also picked up a hamstring injury in Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving Kansas City with fewer options at receiver. Now, with the Chiefs sitting at 4-0 and looking to keep their offense rolling, Hill has suddenly emerged as a potential solution.
Is a Tyreek Hill Reunion Likely for the Chiefs?
Needless to say, when such a high-profile reunion is being floated around, fans have a lot to say on social media.
One fan said, “This seems inevitable.”
“Medically ready is the issue, but it makes sense,” another fan added.
One concerned fan remarked, “Tyreek Hill might be back in Kansas City before the team is.”

With a more realistic approach to the market, a fan said, “I believe the Chiefs need to sign Tyreek Hill and trade for a receiver. Marvin Harrison Jr. feels like the most realistic trade option.”

“So when the Chiefs place Tyquan Thornton on IR for however long he’s out, they’ll sign Tyreek Hill. Got it,” said a fan.
Another fan added, “Worst-kept secret in the NFL, but we desperately need him now without Thornton and Rashee.”

A potential reunion would still come with plenty of questions, particularly because Hill has not played since the dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments he suffered last season. Kansas City cannot afford to make a decision based purely on familiarity, especially with the receiver approaching his return from a lengthy rehabilitation process.
The bigger question is what Hill could realistically provide if he does make it back this season. Even a slightly diminished version of the former All-Pro could bring a different element to the Chiefs’ passing attack, but the team would need confidence that his body can handle an NFL workload.
For context, Hill finished the 2024 season with a PFN WR Impact grade of 76.5, which ranked #33 in the league.
There is also the matter of timing. Hill is aiming to return around November, meaning Kansas City could have a clearer picture of its receiver situation by then. If the injuries elsewhere on the roster continue to create a need, the opportunity could become even more appealing.
For now, Hill’s recovery remains the biggest piece of the puzzle. If he proves healthy, the Chiefs may have a difficult decision to make.
