Tyra Banks Pokes Holes in Law Roach Theory After Project Runway Exit

Supermodel Tyra Banks is addressing speculation surrounding her on-screen conflict with fellow judge Law Roach. The two locked horns on Project Runway, and Banks did not return after Episode 5. The fashion show judge also suggested that her absence may have been part of her contractual arrangement.

Fans were left wondering after Banks did not return to Project Runway after Episode 5. The supermodel was previously onboarded for Season 22 of the show. There has been speculation about whether her row with fellow judge Law Roach had anything to do with her absence.
“People lost their damn minds on that. Was it big to you? I didn’t think it was that big,” Banks told EW about the clash. She was speaking to the outlet around the re-release of her viral book Modelland, 15 years after its original debut.
Episode 5 of the show concluded with Banks and Roach disputing their attitudes during judging. Banks reportedly told Roach that he was “overstepping” and “over-talking everybody” else during judging. She also exclaimed that Roach was “making no damn sense.” Roach later said that anyone voting the way Banks did during the final deliberations was “stupid.”

One contestant called the on-screen conflict the “ultimate showdown on this stage like you’ve never seen before.”
When EW suggested that the on-screen tussle had become a big talking point among fans, Banks replied: “That is so crazy.” She continued laughing and responded, “I don’t know if I should just let the lore live? Just enjoy the Banks-Law, Law-Banks [narrative]. I’m so confused. I’m like, what? We’re beefing? Okay, we’re beefing. It’s just weird for me.”
She continued: “They’re like, ‘Oh, she did five episodes, and then she left? She’s supposed to do 10!’ [But] y’all don’t know what my contract stated. But, you know, what? Continue to enjoy!”
When asked if she’ll return to the show, she said, “I don’t know,” adding that “people start making things [into something] and it becomes the truth, and sometimes you say, ‘Whatever.’”
