Steven Spielberg's 2026 film, *Disclosure Day, *sees the* E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial*, *War of the Worlds*, and *Close Encounters of the Third Kind *director* *return to the alien genre so beloved by his fans. Universal released the first teaser for the film on Tuesday.

In the two-minute-long trailer (below), *Wake Up Dead Man *star Josh O'Connor appears to have found proof of the existence of aliens. "People have a right to know the truth," he says. "It belongs to 7 billion people."

We're also shown Emily Blunt as a Kansas City TV anchor who, confusingly, loses her ability to speak while on air. Is she one of the aliens? We then see Oscar winner Colin Firth sitting in a medical chair before his eyes change color.

The official synopsis describes the upcoming sci-fi film as "If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day."

Spielberg produces and directs *Disclosure Day *from a screenplay by David Koepp based on Spielberg's original story. The film also stars Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.

Blunt gave her first impressions of working with the director in a conversation with EW's Gerrad Hall on the Nov. 20 episode of The Awardist podcast.

"Steven makes me cry when I talk about him because he has become like my movie dad," Blunt said, "and it's been the privilege of privileges working with him and getting to know him and just watching this master who's inspired me for years. It was very goose-bumpy when he called... Well, I heard that he wanted to meet, and then in the room, he kind of just said, 'We want you to play this part.' And I cried as I got in the car. I mean, I was just so moved. And he has inspired everybody. He is the guy who changed the face of cinema, just so groundbreaking, and such a delightful person to breathe the same air as. I'm so excited to — I haven't seen anything, but, yeah, it was awesome. It really was."

The film is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2026.**
