The Golden State Warriors’ decision to sign former Boston Celtics center Charles Bassey is paying immediate dividends. The Warriors snapped their four-game losing streak with a gritty 110–105 win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, with the former second-round pick making a valuable contribution.

Bassey made his debut Sunday against the Houston Rockets, impressing in under 10 minutes by posting five points, four rebounds, and two blocks. On Tuesday against the Kings, he saw more opportunity, as all three of Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Quinten Post were sidelined.

The 25-year-old shot 7-of-12 from the floor and finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, helping the Warriors secure the victory and lock into the 10th seed in the Western Conference.

Stephen Curry, who returned from a knee injury on Sunday, praised Bassey’s performance and highlighted the impact of his strong presence in the paint.

“Our front court has been kinda impacted by so many injuries and for him to come in, last game I told him, it’s like we’ve been playing the pick and roll for about 10 years. The first possession I got in he got a nice dunk. You can tell he has really good feel and he plays really aggressive in the paint. 14 & 12 we needed it, it was huge," Curry said postgame.

Four of Bassey’s rebounds came on the offensive end, and the 6'11" big man finished +9 in his 27 minutes, second only to Curry, who posted 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes, shooting 4-of-11 from three-point range.

Head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that Curry was “a little rusty” against Sacramento, citing a team-wide letdown. “He knows he had a little bit of a ragged game handling the ball and that he’ll make the necessary adjustments and be better next game," he said postgame.

Kerr now faces a decision regarding Bassey once Porzingis and Horford return, but his recent performance demonstrates he deserves genuine rotation minutes.

Horford has been limited by a calf strain, while Post is dealing with foot and ankle issues. Both are expected to remain out this week, per the Warriors PR account, but Kerr added Tuesday that Porzingis’ right knee soreness isn’t serious.

Notably, Porzingis is set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season, making this an opportunity for Bassey to stake his claim in the rotation.
