There's a new top team in the FCS, and that team wears blue and gold and plays in Brookings, South Dakota.
South Dakota State is the new No. 1 team in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll. The Jackrabbits have flipped between No. 2 and No. 3 with Montana most of the season, but jump to No. 1 following Montana State's 35-34 loss at previously-winless Idaho.
The Jackrabbits took care of business last week, beating then-No. 10 Illinois State 31-14 on the road. It was South Dakota State's second top-10 win of the season, having also beaten No. 8 Youngstown State 27-20 on Sept. 19.
South Dakota State received 52 of the 57 first-place votes.

Montana State, the defending FCS champions, dropped to No. 6 following its loss.
Montana, Tarleton State, North Dakota and Lehigh, respectively, round out the top five.
Youngstown State (No. 8), South Dakota (No. 10), Illinois State (No. 12) and Southern Illinois (No. 25) are the other Missouri Valley teams in the poll.
