Sonny and Danny's No Good, Terrible, Very Bad Week: General Hospital Two Scoops For the Week of September 28

It wasn't a good week to be General Hospital's Sonny Corinthos and Danny Morgan. It also wasn't a good week to be Jenz Sidwell and Curtis Ashford, but we don't find ourselves feeling bad for them one bit (especially Curtis). And we especially don't feel bad for Dante. We guess we feel bad for Rocco and Scout, but our hearts truly break for the former mobster himself and his hitman's young son.

He Didn't Do It (This Time)

Dante should never have asked Sonny if he wasn't going to believe him | Image: ABC

Is this payback for Sonny, considering all he has gotten away with over the years, including just two years ago? Didn't Sonny shoot FBI agent John Cates on the Q property and never bat an eye afterwards? In fact, Alexis spent some time in Pentonville for that incident. Never mind that he shot AJ Quartermaine in cold blood years ago and all his other many crimes. Well, this time Sonny didn't do it and nobody believes him.

We shouldn't even feel bad for Sonny. He's a cold-blooded murderer who has been committing crimes since the 1980s, while barely spending more than a few weeks at a time behind bars. He's wealthy. He owns his own island. He can go wherever he pleases and do whatever he pleases and it all came to him through murderous and nefarious actions.

But this is also Sonny Corinthos, our mobster with a heart of gold, played endearingly by multi-Emmy-winner Maurice Benard since 1993, so yes, we have to feel bad for him because that is the enigma of General Hospital. Our heart bleeds for the mobster. If we can just accept this part of being a GH fan, everything else flows.

So, our hearts bled for Sonny because he was so baffled. Why didn't anyone believe our beloved decades-long, one-man crime machine? Sonny didn't understand. Et tu, Dante? Et tu, Gio? Et tu, Justine? (Coming Monday, we are sure.) Ric and Jason believed Sonny, so we guess that's something, but here is why Dante and Justine should also believe him.

Did Sonny skirt the law since his teens by being sloppy and stupid? Would Sonny really have his guys announce his name to the still-conscious and breathing victims? Should a clever detective and a prosecutor know this? Of course, they should, which makes this all the more ridiculous.

And why did Dante even bother asking Sonny to look him in the eye and tell him the truth if he wasn't going to believe his father? Are we headed for more of the same from Justine as the new week begins?

The hardest part to take was how sad Sonny looked. He truly thought those closest to him would trust him, but the joke was on Sonny. In the end, the only people who currently believe him are Jason (of course) and Ric, the brother who was nothing more than his enemy a year ago.

A Word About Ric

How funny was Ric when he visited Curtis? | Image: ABC

Amidst all of Sonny's sadness, how hilarious was it to watch Ric awkwardly and politely walk into Curtis' room just to see how he was and then politely ask him if he could pretty please take it back? Curtis was looking at Ric like he had three heads and Ric seemed to be wondering the same about himself.

Ric had us rolling even earlier when Sonny said they had to take care of Curtis and the look on Ric's face said, "How?" Just a talk, Ric, just a talk. Sonny doesn't do that sort of thing anymore, remember?

Curtis, Calm Down

Curtis was ready to make a deal | Image: ABC

There goes Curtis jumping to conclusions again. Yes, we know the goon dropped Sonny's name, but would Sonny's goon really drop his name? Come on, Curtis. Use your noggin here. Even Sidwell should know this. But here we go with Curtis talking about how Sonny is going to pay. Didn't we just hear this about Isaiah for months and Curtis was wrong then, too? That's how he got himself in this situation to begin with.

As expected, Jordan has joined his bandwagon and is even making demands of people. Until Justine sat down with Jordan, Justine was even willing to give Sonny the benefit of the doubt. One cup of coffee with Jordan and that all seemed to go out the window.

At least Curtis is going to get something out of this because Congresswoman Willow decided to insert herself into the situation. What does she want from Curtis and how long until he is in Spring Ridge? (For punching a guy in a bar brawl, isn't that where he should have been anyway?)

We won't even get started on the rest of the Pitchfork Crew. Friday also featured Josslyn, Trina, Emma, Felicia, and Mac.

Ava and Drew, LOL

Of course, it was Ava and Drew. And of course they did an oopsie because Curtis got dragged into it. Just like their oopsie when Jack Brennan ended up dead in the pool. They don't even know about their oopsie of talking about this outside the front door so Scout could hear.

And that brings us to Scout, a melodramatic young girl if there ever was one, but we like her. We get it. Even if she needs to open her eyes and calm down. Maybe her looking-in-the-corner moment was a turning point.

Our Darling Danny

Danny tried to reason with an hysterical Scout | Image: ABC

If anyone had a worse week than Sonny, it was Danny. And we have to feel more sympathy for Danny because the worst thing he has ever done was steal Chase's car and leave a dead body in a pool, but he didn't actually put it there, so it's ok. And Danny is a child. He is a child who lost his mother two years ago so his "brother's" mother could live. And what did he get for that? His brother throwing his mother's memory back in his face. And what did Rocco get for that? A fist in his face. Was it right? No. But we get it, Danny, we get it.

Poor, poor Danny. This kid has been through it and Lulu had the nerve to make him out to be a bully and a thug. This boy's mother is dead because you are alive and his father spent months away in a WSB black site to cover for your kid shooting a WSB agent, so Lulu can just sit right down and be quiet.

She should be grateful that Drew never got in that car with Charlotte. And the only reason he never did was that Danny had the wherewithal to stop her. How dare she threaten to have this child arrested when what he really needs is a good therapist! Maybe Jason should get on that.

A Word About Charlotte and Lulu

Charlotte needed to hear what Lulu had to say | Image: ABC

While we wanted to throttle Lulu at the end of the week, all we could do was applaud her at the start of the week when she uttered these words:

"The laws you were going to accuse him of breaking exist for a reason. To protect children from real predators. Because children and women deserve to be believed when they’ve been assaulted. But when you throw a lie out there like this, it casts doubt on real victims and survivors. People who deserve justice but can’t get it. Because hey, if one person lies, maybe they’re all lying."

Those words bear repeating because they were powerful and true. GH appears to have been left in a bind when the amazing Bluesy Burke decided to pursue her college education back east. The show needed to write off Charlotte, while leaving the door open for Burke to return, so it sent Charlotte off to boarding school after a spectacularly bad scheme backfired. And thank God it did. Kudos to GH for delivering a powerful message at just the right time about sexual assault and young women.

A Shove in the Lake

Let the adultery games begin | Image: ABC

At least Michael was honest with Brook Lynn. He got a shove into the lake for it, but he said it. Her marriage is over. Chase is a terrible husband. She deserves her daughter, so let's go. Because no Quartermaine woman has ever been meek and weak.

Till next week, Scoopers, when the Brooklyn comes out in Brook Lynn.
