Talk about a celebrity throwback!

Long before they were posing on red carpets and accepting awards, your favorite actors, actresses and musicians were reminiscing about the good old days and dreaming about their futures with their yearbook quotes.

Some, like Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, took the opportunity to share deep thoughts, while others, like Taylor Schilling, took the whole thing for a joke. "I was like, 'This makes no sense to me, I think it's pretty dumb,' " she recalled.

Others were right on the nose: As Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac proclaimed in his quote, "I'm into the arts."

Keep reading to find out what else your favorite celebrities had to say to commemorate leaving the halls of high school.

Dinklage shared his senior year quote, which he borrowed from playwright Sam Shepard, during a November 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

"Words are the tools of imagery in motion," he recalled.

Joked Dinklage: "As a senior yearbook quote, it's pretty pretentious. … I  could have used, like, Guns N' Roses or something."

Taylor Schilling

Schilling's yearbook quote of "Zap to me and my hippos bubye" may seem nonsensical, but it does have an explanation.

The Orange Is the New Black star told Chris Hardwick that she picked the quote after observing how different cliques in her school interacted, which she found to be a "very complex sort of mating ritual."

"My group in high school was hippos, I guess, I made it up," she said.

Schilling also revealed that she had her dad take her unserious yearbook picture the night before she had to turn it in.

The actress wouldn't change a thing, telling Hardwick, "I think it's kind of amazing, and I will just put a plug out for continuing to be yourself."

Brooke Shields got not one, not two, but four different quotes in her Dwight-Englewood School yearbook.

She shared wise words from her mother, Teri Shields ("Tomorrow is another day,"), Frank Sinatra ("Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today,") and Shakespeare ("To thine own self be true").

Even Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes' 1982 duet, "Up Where We Belong," got a nod, with Shields noting, "The road is long/There are mountains in our way/But we climb a step every day."

Jennifer Aniston's message for the class of 1987 at LaGuardia High School of Music and Art in New York was less of a quote and more of a sweet farewell. "It's been a real experience!" she gushed. "My friends and PA will live in my heart forever. I'll miss you DREA. XO."

According to Aniston, she almost didn't get into the prestigious prep school: "I was a very last-minute get into that school,' " she told Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert in October 2025. "I was a terrible student."

After learning two monologues, an audition sealed the deal. Aniston said, "I came back and then next thing you know, I was accepted."
