- Morgan Wallen is defending his decision to cancel a Pittsburgh concert amid the threat of severe weather.
- The singer was met with backlash for the move, which came a week after he was criticized for flipping a piano onstage.
- "I did the best I could with the information I had in that moment," Wallen said, shutting down rumors that stated otherwise.
No matter which way the wind blows, Morgan Wallen is standing by his decision.
The "Cowgirls" singer isn't backing down as he defends his decision to cancel a Pittsburgh appearance. A week after he raised some eyebrows for flipping a piano onstage in a moment of apparent rage, Wallen has inspired some anger himself by canceling a performance at the last minute.
Due to the threat of severe weather in the Pittsburgh area, Wallen cancelled his Saturday night concert, the second of two shows set to take place at Acrisure Stadium, hours before he was set to go on. The move was met with outrage, with fans criticizing the singer for jumping the gun and complaining that the weather had cleared up before becoming too serious. Wallen addressed the backlash with a Saturday night video.
"This morning, my team walked on the bus and told me they had been consulting with local officials and that I should cancel my show in Pittsburgh tonight," the country singer recounted in the video. "And I said, 'Why?' They said that there was going to be strong winds in the area, and I said, 'OK.'"

He continued, "So, that is what I did in that moment, and I trusted my team."
Wallen acknowledged that while Pittsburgh was ultimately not hit with the worst of the wind storm, nearby parts of Pennsylvania were affected.
"The truth of the matter is, I have a large stage that, in those conditions, could become fatal to a lot of folks around it," he said. "So, I did the best I could with the information I had in that moment."
He added, "I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air. I think my true fans know that that's not how I operate in general, but I had to say it."

In his initial post, Wallen assured fans that the decision was not made lightly and involved consultation with multiple parties.
"After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight's show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night," Wallen, 33, wrote on his Instagram Stories. "Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority."

But as the night progressed and the weather cleared up, fans complained about the choice on social media. Additionally, Wallen was also slammed by several local figures.
KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin claimed that "Acrisure stadium officials" were "fuming." Griffin wrote on X, "Sources confirm… Wallen left town on plane before they even had meeting and demanded they announce the cancellation after he was in the air."
Pittsburgh Sports Now editor Mike J. Asti speculated that Wallen would not be "welcomed back" after the "unbelievable turn of events."
Pittsburgh Comedian Dustin Nickerson shared a photo of the sunset, quipping, "Morgan Wallen cancelled in Pittsburgh tonight due to weather. In his defense, it is perhaps the most beautiful night I’ve ever seen."

This is the second weekend in a row that eyes have been turned to Wallen and his Still the Problem Tour. Last week, Wallen earned plenty of attention after flipping over a malfunctioning piano. The "Whiskey Glasses" singer was performing at Denver's Empower Field at Mile High on Friday when technical difficulties forced him to abandon his piano playing and finish a song a cappella.
When the song was over, the singer abruptly turned around to shove and flip the piano, which crashed on stage and broke apart. While some criticized the move as unprofessional, Wallen later joked about the incident on social media.
