Kate Upton couldn’t help but take a playful dig at America's pastime after her husband, Justin Verlander, played his final MLB game.

On Sept. 26, Verlander — who was hilariously called out for using Upton’s Zoom account last June — took the major-league mound one last time during the Detroit Tigers’ 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Back in July, the veteran pitcher announced that the 2026 campaign would be his final MLB season, bringing a storybook ending to his 21-year career.

During an appearance on ‘TODAY’ alongside Verlander, Upton did little to hide her excitement now that she is no longer obligated to watch baseball.

“I'm so excited,” the supermodel quipped when asked how she felt about her partner’s retirement. “I am never watching another baseball game again.”

As the panel erupted into a fit of laughter, Upton added: “It was tears of joy for me.”

While stopping by the ‘Good Morning America’ studio, Verlander shed light on his emotional departure from last Saturday’s game. “There was so much emotion all weekend,” he told co-anchor Michael Strahan.

“Obviously, your life as you know it is coming to an end, and I feel like I ran my race and gave everything I had to the game.”

Upon being pulled in the top of the sixth inning, Verlander was greeted by his seven-year-old daughter, Genevieve, who jogged onto the field and warmly embraced her father as Tigers fans rained down cheers at Comerica Park.

With Upton struggling to hold back tears nearby, Verlander proceeded to whisper several words in Genevieve’s ear before saying goodbye to his teammates and manager, A.J. Hinch.

“I just wanted to make sure she knew that I was in a good place and I'm so happy she was out there with me,” Verlander explained when asked what he told Genevieve during the heartwarming moment. “So I whispered in her ear, ‘I'm just so happy.’”

Verlander achieved no shortage of success over his decorated career in the majors, amassing 266 wins en route to being named a 10-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner.

Despite coming agonizingly short of 300 wins, Verlander asserted that he harbors no regrets about how his time in the big leagues played out. “I think it's all how you look at it, right? I could be sad for what maybe I didn't do. I didn't make 300 wins. That was a goal,” he said.

“I'm not going to go home and lay my head on my pillow tomorrow night, no matter how the game goes, and be like, I left something out there. I think that gives me some ease.”

As for what comes next, Verlander voiced his desire to “make up for lost time” with Upton, Genevieve and his one-year-old son, Bellamy.

“My family means the world to me,” he added. “And I'm just so happy that I get the opportunity to make up for lost time.”
