Supermax stars Smith and Robb as FBI agents investigating a murder in a maximum-security prison

Jaafar Jackson has found his next acting project after the success of Michael, this year’s blockbuster biopic about his uncle Michael Jackson.

Jaafar, 30, will continue his acting career in an upcoming movie from Amazon MGM Studios titled Supermax with Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb. It’s unclear what role Jaafar will play in the movie. Smith, 57, was announced as Supermax‘s lead back in May.

The new movie is directed by David Gordon Green (The Exorcist: Believer, Halloween) and will stream exclusively on Prime Video across the world, with filming set to begin in mid-August. A synopsis for the movie PEOPLE obtained in May describes the film as “a propulsive and twist-laden action thriller that follows two FBI agents investigating a murder that’s taken place in the world’s most secure prison.”

Robb, 32, will also portray an FBI agent at the center of the movie alongside Smith’s character Rex. She confirmed news of her casting on July 21 when she shared an article to her Instagram and wrote, “Extremely grateful. Extremely pumped. Extremely ready to kick some a$$,” in a caption.

Jaafar made his screen acting debut playing his own uncle in Michael, which is currently the second-highest-grossing movie of 2026 worldwide and the fourth highest-grossing movie this year in North America, as of Aug. 3. Jaafar — one of Jermaine Jackson‘s seven children — has said that he “never dreamed to be an actor” before the opportunity to audition for Michael arose. He was introduced as the actor who would portray the late King of Pop in in January 2023.

Supermax was written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, who have worked on the television series Invasion and Hunters. The screenwriters will also work on the project as executive producers, with Smith and Adam Fishbach producing for Smith’s production company Westbrook.
