Greg James received support from his BBC Radio 1 colleagues live on air after announcing the death of his beloved dog Barney.
Charlie Hedges stepped in for the breakfast show presenter on Tuesday (4 July) following James’ announcement on Monday evening.

James shared a message on Instagram saying that his chocolate Labrador was put to sleep.
“I can’t really get my head around it. But he was peaceful, we were with him at home in the garden in the sunshine and I can’t stop crying,” he wrote.
Hedges said James was “one of the best people on the planet,” and she was sending him a “massive hug” following the news.
