Target’s popular car seat trade‑in event is back, letting parents recycle old seats and get 20% off a new baby item for a limited time.

Starting April 19, the Minneapolis‑based retailer will accept expired, damaged or unwanted car seats at participating stores, rewarding shoppers with a Target Circle bonus toward future purchases.

“Families trust Target to be there for them during life’s biggest milestones,” Amanda Nusz, Target’s senior vice president of merchandising, essentials and beauty, said in a statement, adding that the program is designed to make recycling easier while helping parents save on what comes next.

To get a 20% Target Circle bonus, shoppers simply need to bring an old car seat to any participating Target store. Any car seat is accepted, according to the retailer.

Select locations will also offer giveaways, samples and in‑store experiences, giving families a chance to explore new products.

Target says its Baby Concierge and Baby Boutique services, which provide both in‑person and virtual support, will be available before, during and after the event.

When is Target's car seat trade-in event?

The event runs from Sunday, April 19, through Saturday, May 2, with Target accepting old car seats for 14 days.
