- *One Piece *season 2 hits Netflix on Tuesday, March 10.

- Charithra Chandran (*Bridgerton*), Joe Manganiello (*True Blood*), and David Dastmalchian (*The Suicide Squad*) are among the new additions to the cast.

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for *One Piece *season 1*.***

Transforming a wildly popular, hyperactive manga with more than 1,100 episodes into a live-action series is no easy feat, but Netflix's reimagining of *One Piece* pleased noobs and fans alike.

The streamer's spin on *One Piece* debuted in 2023, with Iñaki Godoy starring as the straw-hatted Monkey D. Luffy, a loud-mouthed misfit who links up with an eccentric crew to form his own gang of treasure-hunting pirates. His goal? To become King of the Pirates.

Season 1 of Netflix's *One Piece* introduced Luffy, the body-stretching powers he gains upon eating Devil Fruit, and the unique personalities of his fellow Straw Hat Pirates, which include navigator Nami (Emily Rudd), swordsman Zoro (Mackenyu), marksman Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson), and chef Sanji (Taz Skylar).

Together, they work their way to the perilous and unpredictable Grand Line ocean route in search of the legendary hidden treasure known as One Piece.

Despite some behind-the-scenes shakeups, the show's new season will up the ante by super-sizing its cast with several notable names. Read on for everything we know about *One Piece* season 2.**

Season 1 of Netflix's *One Piece* adaptation ended with Luffy and the Straw Hat gang liberating Nami's hometown of Coco Village from Arlong (McKinley Belcher III), the spiky-nosed fish-man with hopes of turning the village into a fish-men empire.

Garp (Vincent Regan), Luffy's grandpa and a vice admiral in the Marines, rains on the team's parade when he orders his grandson to quit pirating. Luffy refuses, and he and his team cement their bond as they set sail for the Grand Line.

They'll have company, though. While Luffy is thrilled to see one of his dreams fulfilled when a wanted poster with his face on it begins to circulate, it draws the attention of some unsavory characters.

They include rival pirates Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward) and Alvida (Ilia Isorelýs Paulino), as well as a mystery man who puts out a cigar on the poster. Fans of the manga know that the mystery man is Smoker, a Marine captain who serves as a major antagonist.**

Who’s joining the One Piece season 2 cast?

Godoy, Rudd, Mackenyu, Gibson, Skylar, Ward, and Regan will return for season 2, but their journey across the Grand Line's choppy waters will feature loads of new heroes, villains, and chaos agents.

Most prominent among them is Smoker, who's poised to be one of the season's primary antagonists. The cigar-chomping Marine captain will be played by Callum Kerr, a veteran of series like Hulu's *Monarch* (2022), Netflix's *Virgin River* (2024), and Prime Video's *The Wheel of Time* (2025). Julia Rehwald, who led Netflix's *Fear Street* trilogy (2021), plays Smoker's colleague, Tashigi.

Season 2 will also feature several fan-favorite characters from the manga. Joe Manganiello, the *True Blood* alum and *Deal or No Deal Island* host, will play Mr. 0, the head of Baroque Works, a criminal organization.

Several of Mr. 0's flunkies have also been cast, with David Dastmalchian (*Late Night With the Devil)* as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson (*Batwoman*) as Mr. 5, and Daniel Lasker (*Raised By Wolves*) as Mr. 9.

Lera Abova (*Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin*), Sophia Anne Caruso (*The School for Good and Evil*), Charithra Chandran (*Bridgerton*), and Jazzara Jaslyn (*Lioness*) will also play Baroque Works agents.

Katey Sagal (*Sons of Anarchy*) has been cast as Dr. Kureha, a role initially coveted by Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis. Despite her age, the elderly doctor, an ally to the Straw Hat Pirates, dresses like a teenager, with a crop top, bellybutton ring, and tight jeans emblazoned with flames. Mark Harelik (*The Morning Show*) will play her eccentric colleague, Dr. Hiruluk.

They serve as parental figures for Tony Tony Chopper, a human/reindeer hybrid who plays a key part in *One Piece*'s future. After being teased in two different promotional clips, Tony Tony Chopper was properly introduced at a Netflix Tudum event in May.

The nugget is voiced by Mikaela Hoover *(Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Superman*), who also performed facial capture for the character. **

(Anton David Jeftha), Dalton (Ty Keogh), Ipponmatsu (James Hiroyuki Liao), Dragon (Rigo Sanchez), Crocus (Clive Russell), Igaram (Yonda Thomas), Brogy (Brendan Murray), Dorry (Werner Coetser), and Nefertari Cobra (Sendhil Ramamurthy).**

What is *One Piece *season 2 about?

First and foremost, *One Piece* season 2 will follow our seafaring heroes as they set sail for the Grand Line.

Skylar told * *that the Grand Line is "where everybody has their rulebook on how the world is supposed to work, how gravity is supposed to work, how physics is supposed to work and every one solves problems within that."

"I think the Grand Line signifies crossing that moment of no return where you enter into a world where your usual way of solving problems no longer applies and you have to start from scratch on some of the biggest problems," he continued. "The fastest problems are the most dangerous problems you ever have in your life, and I think that's what every Straw Hat is doing as soon as they enter the Grand Line. I think each of us deal with it in a different way."

If the season 1 finale is any indication, they'll be pursued by Buggy and Alvida's pirate gangs, each seeking not just revenge, but also the 30,000,000-berry reward.

As the voluminous cast list demonstrates, though, they aren't the only obstacles standing between the Straw Hat Pirates and the One Piece. Marines Smoker and Tashigi are notable antagonists from the manga, as is Mr. 0 and the motley crew of oddballs that comprise his Baroque Works criminal enterprise.

But Luffy and his pals will also meet some new friends, specifically Sagal's Dr. Kureha and the pint-sized Tony Tony Chopper, a much-beloved character from the manga.

According to a letter shared by Netflix and series creator Eiichiro Oda, season 2 will take its characters to key locations from the mega-popular manga, including "Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Capes), Whiskey Peak, Little Island, and Drum Island.”

Is there a One Piece season 2 trailer?

During the annual *One Piece* Day celebration in Tokyo on August 9, Netflix revealed the first teaser trailer for season 2. The official trailer debuted on Tuesday, Feb. 10, exactly one month before the new episodes hit the streamer.**

The three-minute trailer gives fans a peek at Luffy and the Strat Hats setting sail for the Grand Line. They run into all sorts of wild creatures, including dinosaurs and an otter in a polka-dot suit carrying seashell gadgets (likely Mr. 13). Eagle-eyed viewers will also catch a glimpse of Laboon the whale, who Skylar described to EW* *as "playful and mischievous."

It's also packed with plenty of epic scenery, high-octane action, and glimpses at some of the other characters they'll cross paths with on their voyage.
