Elizabeth Holmes hasnât seen You Can See Everything, according to the directors.
Nathan Fielder revealed that Holmesâ partner made the process âuncomfortable.â
The documentary follows Holmes in the month before she reported to prison.
It turns out that Elizabeth Holmes canât see everything.
The disgraced Theranos founder and her partner Billy Evans are the subject of Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheimâs new surreal documentary You Can See Everything, but the filmmaking duo revealed at a star-studded screening in Los Angeles on Tuesday night that Holmes and Evans have yet to watch it.
âNeither of them have seen the film,â Oppenheim told Bill Hader, who was moderating the conversation. âElizabeth is still incarcerated; Billy hasnât seen it.â (But that hasnât stopped Holmesâ social media account from hyping up the movie.)
Evans is as much a character in You Can See Everything as Holmes, and Fielder shared that the father of her two children âstarted trying to exert a level of control over the process that made it very hard to engage with him, and it was uncomfortable for us and A24.â
Fielder continued, âWe sort of had to stop. Communication broke down basically, and weâve been in that state for a little bit. So itâs been challenging in that way.â
In the early 2010s, Holmes became a notable Silicon Valley innovator through her company Theranos, which claimed to revolutionize the health care industry with cheap diagnostic testing that would screen patients for hundreds of diseases with just a few drops of blood. However, the technology was eventually exposed as a massive, multiyear fraud. Holmes is currently three years into an 11-year sentence (reduced to nine years for good behavior) for fraud and conspiracy.

Fielder said there was ânever a great explanation as to whyâ theyâd want to spend her last month of freedom with him. âEven with no cameras â I like to see myself as like a nice person overall, but still, I wouldnât choose me.â
Fielder is accustomed to documenting unexplainable behavior after his beloved TV shows The Rehearsal and Nathan for You, the latter of which concluded with a movie-length series finale that followed a Bill Gates impersonator on his journey to reunite with his lost love. Despite his past, Fielder is still unable to reckon with what he went through with Holmes.
âI still am not sure to this day what I experienced, and itâs one of the reasons Iâm excited for it to come out and more people see it,â he said. âIt was just a small group for so long, and I actually think maybe it being out there, everyone can help me understand what I went through.â
You Can See Everything opens in theaters on Oct. 16.
