Céline Dion always keeps her late husband, René Angélil, close to her.
The singer, 58, returned to the stage in a major way in early September for a set of residency shows in France. For the kickoff, she wore a suite of Boucheron diamonds totaling over 500 carats. In a new video posted to Instagram on Thursday, Oct. 1, Dion shared a few highlights from the residency, calling out what made her jewels so special.
“This is a Boucheron necklace. And it’s kind of incredible because my husband always wore Boucheron perfume. It’s something that makes me feel like René is still here,” Dion says while tearing up, referring to Angélil, to whom she was married for 21 years before his 2016 death.
She added, “It’s never been worn. It’s unique. Just like René.”
The necklace, called The Address from the 2026 Histoire de Style High Jewelry collection, boasts a 10.1-carat diamond, the massive gemstone nodding to an archival piece that featured an “octagonal shape of Place Vendôme,” where Frédéric Boucheron was the first of the “great contemporary jewelers to open a boutique” at the location, per the jewelry house. The necklace, which also contained baguette, round and emerald-cut diamonds, took 1,107 hours to create.
Dion also wore the diamond-encrusted gold Fuzzy, the Leopard Cat ring, a part of Boucheron’s 1866 Animaux de Collection, which adorned an 18.17-carat cushion-cut green tourmaline. Her jewelry shone against an all-black custom Dior gown with a pleated peplum skirt.
Boucheron’s creative director Claire Choisne wrote in a statement that she was “deeply honored” to see Dion in the label. “As a designer, and personally as a great admirer of such an iconic artist, seeing our pieces come to life on her is a dream come true,” she said. “Her voice brings a new dimension to these creations and renders them with grace. It is a beautiful celebration of what drives us every day: the alliance of artistic excellence and boundless creativity.”

Dion’s Sept. 12 concert was an emotional one. It was the Grammy winner’s first full concert in over six years after her career as a live performer was sidelined first by the COVID-19 pandemic and then by her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis.
She spoke to the crowd in French and then English, telling fans, “There are many of you here tonight from all over the world. Thank you so very much for coming. If it’s your first time in Paris. I hope you fall in love with it, just like I did. Finally, it’s amazing we are all together.”
She continued speaking to the crowd, showing her gratitude for the fans’ support over the many years of her career.
“Thank you so very much for your support, your patience, and if I may say so: I am everything I am because you loved me,” the musician then said, quoting her hit 1996 song, “Because You Loved Me,” which she then segued into.
In 2022, Dion was diagnosed with the rare and progressive autoimmune and neurological disorder — which can cause muscle rigidity, mobility issues, painful spasms and shortness of breath. Since then, she has done small performances but no full-length show. She prepared for her return to the stage by taking new medication, doing physical and vocal therapy and immunotherapy while also increasing her exercise, she told Harper’s Bazaar in August.
