It’s not uncommon for two co-stars’ on-screen chemistry to translate off-screen—and that’s exactly what happened when Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike met on the set of Euphoria and quickly fell for each other.

The former couple, who portray Jules and Elliot on the series, first sparked dating rumors in early 2022 and went public with their relationship not long after. They dated for over a year, during which they walked red carpets together, spoke openly about each other in interviews, and had the show’s fans swooning left and right over their real-life romance. By 2023, however, Fike confirmed that the two had gone their separate ways.

With Euphoria’s highly anticipated third season set to debut on April 12, both Schafer and Fike are expected to return in the new episodes.

The two have not publicly reunited, as Fike did not attend the Season 3 premiere in Los Angeles on April 7—likely due to the fact that the singer had a performance at Freely Fest in Nashville the following day.

Following weeks of dating speculation, Fike seemingly confirms their romance via Instagram Stories when he posts a photo of them kissing. The post features Schafer and Fike sharing a kiss over a plate of dessert while out to dinner and is captioned “happy birthday happy birthday,” despite both of their birthdays being in December.

In an interview with GQ, Fike shares how quickly he and Schafer fell for each other while working together on the Euphoria set.

“In those moments, your relationship is accelerated,” Fike says of filming intense scenes with Schafer. “Because you’re so vulnerable with someone, immediately. Which usually takes a long time. Some people fall in love, like, fucking months after they meet, or years after. We developed an attraction—it sped it up so fast. We just really got to know each other so quickly.”

He also sweetly reveals that sometimes he goes to the Prada store in New York City’s SoHo just to see Schafer’s ad campaign. He says, “I once went to the Prada store in SoHo eight times in four days, not just to buy clothes, but also to see Hunter’s face on the ads in the windows—That’s the best part of stopping by the shop on Broadway.”

Fike also opens up about how he thinks filming season three of Euphoria with Schafer will go now that they’ve split, saying, “I think it’ll be fine. We’re all adults, kind of. I’m trying.”

In another interview with the Los Angeles Times, Fike doubles down on his newfound singleness, as he says, “When I had a girlfriend, we’d sleep over here. I could make music around her, which was crazy. I was looking through songs the other day and found one that I made with her.”

“I was like, ‘Man, that was so cool.’ But the fact of me saying that—of being uncomfortable being alone—that’s a bad thing. So I decided to just be alone for a while,” he adds.

Over a year after the couple’s breakup, Schafer opens up about their relationship and split in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. She calls the breakup “mutually agreed upon,” despite reports that stated otherwise.

“It was one of the cleaner breakups I’ve had. He has a lot to work on, and I also have a lot to work on,” she says. “We had a really good thing, but there were things in our own selves that had nothing to do with each other that kept coming up.”

Schafer adds, “It was so, so hard because we really loved each other. He’s a really special person, and I love his soul and everything.”

But during the episode, she also reveals Fike’s infidelity during their relationship, and how it “fundamentally changed” her.

“It’s part of why the relationship ended, is I got cheated on for the first time,” she shares. “He’s talked about this, too—in his songs, he writes about it—so it’s fine to be talking about it today, and it’s part of my truth. But that fundamentally changed me as a person. And it was this whole process of realizing that cheating has nothing to do with you at all. It has everything to do with that person and whatever kind of pain they’re in, or whatever they’re dealing with.”
